RETURN TO PRACTICE PLAN
Prescreening / Prior to Arrival
- Patients will be informed about their responsibilities and new procedures at the time of booking. A notice will be placed on the website, the online booking software, and my social media forums.
- A copy of the Return to Practice Plan will be available on my website and online booking site and the patient will be expected to read this information prior to their first appointment.
- Patients must arrive to their appointment with no signs of communicable disease.
- Patients who develop even mild illness or symptoms of COVID-19 must cancel booked appointments. A late cancellation fee will not apply in this instance.
Upon Arrival:
- Masks must be worn upon entry into the building, in the treatment room and during the treatment, including when lying face down. The therapist will be wearing a mask at all times. Special consideration will be given to those patients with contraindications to wearing masks.
- Patients are asked to arrive on time and come up to room 206 at their scheduled appointment time. If you arrive early, please have a seat in the waiting room and come up to the room at your scheduled time.
Physical Distancing
- The therapist and the patient will both maintain a space of 2 meters (6 feet) distance between each other when possible.
Restroom for Patient Use:
- The restroom has been equipped with soap and paper towels and guidelines for proper hand washing.
- Soap and paper towels will be available at all times. Please inform me if supplies are empty.
Hand Hygiene
Entry
- Patients will sanitize or wash their hands upon entry with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, followed by thorough drying
- Hand washing protocols will be posted visibly in the washroom
In the Treatment Room:
- Hand sanitizer is available within the treatment room for patient and therapist use.
- The door and doorknobs will be disinfected between each patient.
- Payment options: Contactless tap system for debit or credit, e-transfer, cash or patients will have the option of saving their credit card information on file for payment online. Receipts will be emailed to the patient.
Face Touching
- Tissue will be available in the treatment room so patients and the therapist may use tissue to address an itch and/or touch the face for any other reason.
- Intra-oral work will not be done at this time.
Enhanced Cleaning
- Visibly soiled surfaces will be cleaned followed by disinfection with a Canada Health Approved cleaners. All high touch surfaces such as light switches, chairs, door knobs, table surfaces, electronics, and writing utensils will be cleaned and disinfected between patients.
- Treatment table, equipment and supplies (lotions etc.) will be sanitized using Canada Health Approved cleaners.
- All linens, including blankets and pillow cases are single use only and will be laundered using hot soapy water.
- A disinfected plastic bin has been placed in the treatment room for the patient's belongings during treatment.
- A Cleaning and Disinfectants for Clinic Setting poster will be on display in the treatment room and washroom.
- Common area high touch surfaces (door knobs, handrails) will be cleaned several times a day.
- An air purifier is used in the room, as well as air filters in the building. Windows are opened between patients, and often during treatment.
Personal Protective Equipment
- The therapist will wear a face mask at all times while working with a patient.
- The patient must wear a clean face mask during their appointment.
- If patients do not have a mask, a single use medical mask will be provided at the time of treatment.
Professional Obligations
Liability Insurance
- The therapist carries professional liability insurance through AON Reed Stenhouse INC.
- The therapist is following all the health and safety guidelines outlined by the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia and the Provincial Health Officer and that they are taking all reasonable precautions to clean and disinfect the clinic and all the surfaces within the treatment room.
- No guarantees have been made by the therapist, that the patient may not come in contact with COVID-19 at or during an appointment.
In the current environment of COVID-19 risk, informed consent requires that the patient be informed and understands that:
- Any massage therapy treatment involves some risk of COVID-19 transmission;
- The therapist is following protocol to help reduce or mitigate risk when possible, but that risk cannot be reduced to zero;
- The patient consents to the treatment despite some risk.
